Dogs, dogs, dogs....

So this is our Gabby's boyfriend Otis. Otis is the white curly-haired golden-doodle. This is a combination of a golden retriever and a poodle - the idea is that they are hypo-allergenic, don't shed as much, and combine the best traits of both breeds - I couldn't agree more. He really thinks that Gabby is his girlfriend. They literally give each other a hug at first meeting and are inseparable the entire time that they are together. Adam and Elizabeth Byrd invited us to their lake house for the Fourth and we took Gabby along. Porter is still too little and too unpredictable I think. She had to stay home. Gabby LOVES the water - she kept going to fetch the ball and bringing it back the long way all morning long. Since there are no steps up the pier from the water - Gabby went to get the ball, swam all the way to shore, got on the pier and brought it back to me. Even when sweet Otis did get to the ball first - Gabby would dunk him under and steal the ball away to bring it back. it was such a great game and she was exhausted the rest of the day, and slept all the way home. We are so blessed to have friends like the Byrds and I know Gabby likes the company as well. :)

Day at the Reservoir

This is what makes it all worth it! Today Anthony didn't have to work and I only had to go in for a minute this morning. We even got to sleep late (8:30 - amazing!). Then we took our golden retriever, Gabby, to play at the Reservoir. She loved it - as you can see from the pictures. We all played chase and ran all over the place. During the summer, she loves to go swim out there, but we weren't about to let the big dog get wet and then get in the car. I drove and Anthony held her so she could stick her head out the window, but not fall out. She loves letting her hears flap in the wind. After playing until we were all tuckered out, we went by Brewsters Ice Cream shop near our house. The people ice cream is really good and dogs get a "Dog Sundae" which is vainlla ice cream with a milk bone on top. Gabby loved it too and got icecream on her nose. :) She's not spoiled at all really !

After our super day at the res, we had a good and tired dog. (a tired dog is almost always a good dog!) We got to take a family from church dinner and hold their new baby boy and play with thier sweet little girl - what precious children! We then planned to go see the movie Charlie Wilson's war, but we missed the time, and ended up going to see The Bucket List -which is a really good movie. A touching movie about two guys who become frineds because of their illness and then proceed to travel the world to check off things that they want to do before they die. We would definately recommend it. It truely was a wonderful day!
